NOTICE TO ALL UNIT LEADERS

Reminder

All updated Tax Exemption forms need to be on file at the SCOUT SHOP by the end of December in order to continue receiving tax exempt status for 2007.

Per Ohio Department of Taxation

All units need to realize that the only way that the tax exemption is applied is when

Purchases are paid for by using organizational money.  In other words, if a unit leader is buying or picking up advancements or other pack/troop related materials and expecting to receive tax exemption the unit leader must pay for those purchases with either a pack/troop check or with funds from their UDA account.  We will not be able to extend tax exemption for purchases when someone is using cash, personal check or credit cards even if they are being reimbursed from the unit.

NOTICE TO ALL UNIT LEADERS

THE SCOUT SHOP IS REQUIRED BY LAW TO UPDATE TAX EXEMPTION CERTIFICATES USED BY UNITS ON PURCHASES EVERY FOUR YEARS.

THE FORMS MUST BE COMPLETED AND RETURNED TO THE SCOUT SHOP IN ORDER TO BE VALID FOR TAX EXEMPT STATUS.

IF THE FORMS ARE NOT UPDATED AND RECEIVED IN THE SCOUT SHOP BY JANUARY 1, 2007 WE WILL BE REQUIRED TO START CHARGING TAX.

CHAIRMAN OF EVERY UNIT.  PLEASE TAKE THIS FORM TO YOUR CHARTERING ORGANIZATION AND HAVE THEM FILL IT OUT GIVING YOUR UNIT PERMISSION TO USE THEIR NUMBER FOR PURCHASES.

EACH LINE MUST BE COMPLETED:

The Chartering Organization is  the organization which has granted you authorization to use their tax number.

The street address, city, state and zip code is for the chartering organizations location.

Signature and title needs to come from the chartering organization.

The Tax ID number is placed on last line.

Please have your chartering organization fill out and sign one form for each program.

(Cub Scout Pack, Boy Scout Troop, or Venturing Crew).

Anyone making a tax exempt purchase will be required to fill in the Tax ID number on a log sheet.  NOTE: They must have the tax number with them at the time of purchase.

ALL FORMS MUST BE RETURNED TO THE SCOUT SHOP  BY  DECEMBER 31ST, 2006
